The donation of an historic Qantas airliner, has seen the plane arrive in the Illawarra after nearly a decade of work and delays.
The Boeing 707 owned by mega star John Travolta, arrived at Port Kembla in a container ship on Wednesday 13 May 2026, after the engines for the plane were delivered to HARS in 2025.
The airliner weighs over 60-tonnes, so plans had to be set in place to consider the tide and the ramp angle on the delivery ship, to get the almost 40-metre fuselage and the huge wings out of storage and onto the Port Kembla dock
