The future expansion of the Wollongong Hospital and Health Precinct has taken a key step forward, with a lead design team appointed to progress planning for the region’s largest hospital.
The state Labor Government is investing $220 million for planning to support a future expansion and redevelopment of Wollongong Hospital and Health Precinct to ensure it continues to meet the healthcare needs of communities across Illawarra and surrounding regions.
The appointment of the lead design team follows the release of the Minns Government’s Wollongong Health Precinct Strategy earlier this year, which outlines a vision to create a world-class health, research and education hub, that can serve the growing needs of the Illawarra region into the future.
The Government said the project will deliver enabling works to prepare the hospital campus for future redevelopment, as well as further planning to shape the long-term revitalisation of Wollongong Hospital, in line with the Strategy.
