Councillor slams Government over whale death

Claims have been made by a Greens Councillor from Wollongong City Council, on the cost to remove the dead whale from our northern coastline.

Greens Councillor Jess Whittaker, said Council was forced to cough up more than $44,000, to recover the nearly five-tonne whale at Scarborough, that she says was killed by an NSW Government managed shark net last month.

Councillor Whittaker says the responsibility for the incident, rests squarely with the NSW Government, and the Agriculture Minister’s ineffective shark netting program.
