Vegetation management works are commencing near Albion Park Train Station, including Rotary
Park and Railway Park to ensure ongoing aviation safety and compliance with Civil Aviation Safety
Authority (CASA) regulations which govern Shellharbour Airport.
Shellharbour City Council has developed a Vegetation Management Plan addressing the
encroachment of trees in the operational airspace of the airport defined by the Obstacle Limitation
Surface (OLS).
Works started on Monday 28 April, taking 5-7 days to complete.
Council has engaged a contractor for these vegetation management works, as part of the environmental approval conditions, Council is replanting 10 trees within Rotary Park and 50 along the adjacent creek line. In addition, further planting will occur in local bush regeneration areas with two new plants for every one removed.
