UOW Researchers to dive into Parkinson’s project

Two Australian research projects investigating possible links between environmental toxins and Parkinson’s disease are set to receive more than $844,000 in funding.

The researchers, including a team at the University of Wollongong are examining if common household items and pesticides could play a role in the development of Parkinson’s.

The major funding announcement by the Shake It Up Australia Foundation coincides with World Parkinson’s Day today.

Shake It Up CEO, Vicki Miller, says it follows previous research suggesting items like plastic food containers, cleaning products and farming chemicals could play a contributing role.
