A man has been charged following a pursuit through the Illawarra.
About 1.55pm Wednesday 26 November 2025, officers attached to Southern Operations Support Group attempted to stop a vehicle on Lismore Street, Bellambi.
When the black hatchback allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated and continued onto the M1 Motorway at Albion Park, where the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, the vehicle broke down and a 38-year-old man was arrested near Tongarra Road, Albion Park.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station before he was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for assessment.
Following release from hospital, he was returned to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with a number of offences.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 3 on Thursday 27 November 2025.
