Kiama accepts extension on performance order

Kiama Council is moving forward with a proposed variation to its Performance Improvement Order.

At an extraordinary meeting overnight, councillors unanimously voted to accept an extension offered by the Minister for Local Government earlier this month.

The decision gives the council an extra year to balance its budget, while progressing a series of required measures – including reviewing assets and strengthening governance, while ruling out outsourcing waste services.
