Zac Lomax remains stuck in contract limbo, despite a shock settlement reached in the NSW Supreme Court today.
While the long running legal standoff between the former Illawarra junior and Parramatta has officially ended, Lomax’s immediate NRL future remains uncertain.
Under the settlement, Lomax is still bound by the majority of his contract with the Eels, meaning he cannot join another NRL club without Parramatta’s consent until 2028, a year earlier than the original 2029 expiry.
The ruling leaves his proposed move to the Melbourne Storm in limbo, with Parramatta retaining control over any potential return to the competition before that date.
As part of the agreement, the Storm will pay $250,000 in Parramatta’s legal costs, bringing a murky end to one of the NRL’s most closely watched contract disputes.
While the court battle is over, questions remain over when and where Lomax will next play in the NRL.
