The AUKUS Public Inquiry will hold a public hearing at the Wollongong Art Gallery to gather the views of local community members on the AUKUS military pact with the United States and the United Kingdom, on Wednesday 12 August 2026, at the Wollongong Art Gallery.

The AUKUS Public Inquiry has been convened by retired MPs and military and naval leaders in response to what’s been called the complete lack of scrutiny of the AUKUS pact by the Federal Government.

Local anti-war group Wollongong Against War and Nukes will be attending the public hearing, with a rally planned outside the Art Gallery at 12:30pm, calling for no nuclear-submarine base in Port Kembla and for an end to what it says is the waste of $368 billion on the AUKUS agreement.
