At this weeks’ Shellharbour City Council meeting, Councillors unanimously supported a motion to tackle growing safety concerns relating bikes, e-scooters, and electric-powered transport devices in public spaces.

The motion, put forward by Councillor Rob Petreski, calls for a comprehensive report into safety risks, enforcement options, infrastructure improvements, and education initiatives to help ensure pedestrians, riders, and families can all enjoy shared spaces safely.

“Residents have told us loud and clear that safety is becoming a real concern, especially in high-traffic areas and town centres like the Shell Cove Marina, Council acted decisively to get ahead of the issue and find practical, positive solutions,” Councillor Petreski said.
