After years of waiting, “Hollow Knight: Silksong” is finally on its way, and sooner than you’d think. The highly awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed 2017 hit “Hollow Knight” is officially set to launch on September 4th.
Team Cherry, the small but talented Australian studio behind both games, broke their six-year silence on Thursday with a new trailer announcing the release date.
Contrary to speculation, the lengthy development process wasn’t plagued by major challenges or setbacks. The developers instead explained that the extended timeline was intentional. They took the time needed to craft the game they truly envisioned, avoid burnout, and steer clear of the industry’s notorious crunch culture.
Additionally, the game itself evolved far beyond their initial plans, growing in both scope and ambition.
The patience has clearly paid off. The original “Hollow Knight” has sold an impressive 15 million copies to date, cementing its place as one of the most successful indie games of all time. Now, the wait for its successor is almost over and from what we’ve seen of it, it’s been worth the wait.
