A man will face court today charged over the alleged assault of a woman near Wollongong last month.
About 3.30pm on Sunday 17 September 2023, emergency services were called to a park on Darkes Road, Dapto, after reports of an assault.
On arrival, NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 27-year-old woman for serious facial injuries, before she was taken to Wollongong Hospital for further treatment.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 32-year-old man in Warwick Street, Berkeley, about 8.30pm yesterday (Monday 30 October 2023).
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and affray.
The Berkeley man was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 31 October 2023).
