Wollongong City Council has advised that it’ll no longer stay silent if a whale carcass is removed from local beaches.
The move follows last month’s incident at Bellambi, where a whale was cut up after being towed in without public warning about a possible shark risk.
The council says next time this occurs, the community will be informed regardless of advice from other agencies.
