Wollongong arrest over 3D printed guns

A man will face court charged after an investigation into the alleged manufacture of 3D printed firearms in Wollongong overnight.

About 2.40pm yesterday Sunday 10 August 2025, Wollongong Police received information that a firearm was allegedly seen in a room at an educational facility on Northfields Avenue, Keiraville.

Following inquiries, about 9.45pm detectives, with the assistance of officers attached to the Tactical Operations Group (TOG) executed a search warrant at the location.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized two firearms and electronic devices.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man who was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with

  • Possess unauthorised firearm
  • Not keep firearm safely – not pistol / prohibited firearm
  • Possess unregistered firearm – pistol
  • Not keep firearm safely – pistol
  • Possess digital blueprint for manufacture of firearms

He was refused bail and will appear before Bail Division Court 3 today, Monday 11 August 2025.
