Shellharbour City Council is set to have its Council’s Environment team inspect Windang Island this week, to assess the extent of damage after Sunday’s fire.
Windang Island is an environmentally and culturally significant location, supporting threatened plant and animal species, endangered ecological communities, and important wildlife habitat.
Council said the NSW Rural Fire Service has investigated the fire and referred information to NSW Police.
