A man accused of hitting a South Coast woman in the Queensland town of Maroochydore, could have his charges upgraded after the 24-year-old victim passed away in hospital.
The Brazilian national who is in Australia on a working visa, is alleged to have driven at a group of men following an argument, also striking Mallee Smith, who grew up in Broulee on the South Coast, and was living at Shellharbour, and was employed by Shellharbour City Council.
Tragically, Mallee had travelled to the Sunshine Coast to surprise her family for Christmas.
