Pollution concern in Figtree creek

Wollongong City Council is calling for residents to share any info they may have on a recent pollution incident at Figtree.

Council were called by a concerned resident, then Fire and Rescue NSW’s HAZMAT team were brought in, to assist with managing the site in the creek behind Cobblers Park, Figtree.

Under NSW State Government legislation, there are significant fines for environmental pollution, and businesses can be issued fines of up to $5 million, for the most serious offences and charged for clean-up costs.
