‘No excuses’: Eyes forward to Cronulla for Dragons

St George Illawarra Dragons coach Shane Flanagan insists there were no excuses for conceding 60 points in their loss to the Roosters yesterday.

The side lost centre Moses Suli early due to concussion, and in the end were overpowered by the Sydney side.

The Dragons now turn to next weekend, where a local derby against the Cronulla Sharks awaits.

It will be Flanagan’s first game coached against the club he won a premiership with in 2016.

He says he’s had this game circled in the calendar since the off-season.

“Next week comes around real quick and we come up against a team from down the Shire that I’m interested in beating

“Yeah, it’s been marked in the calendar for a while

“Won a comp there, I don’t think they’ve won one since have they?” Flanagan said tongue-in-cheek.
