Independent Kiama MP Gareth Ward will tonight be in custody after failing a bid to remain on bail this afternoon.
It comes after he was found guilty of four charges on Friday, including sexual intercourse without consent and three counts of assault with an act of indecency.
A hearing took place in Sydney today, with sentencing coming on September 19
