September 19 is the day sentencing submissions are due to begin around the case for the former Member for Kiama Gareth Ward.
Ward was found guilty of four offences back in July, which included one count of sexual intercourse without consent and three counts of indecent assault.
Prosecution has indicated they will seek a full-time custody sentence, while the former Kiama MP indicated he would appeal after he was convicted.
“I am taking advice about next steps, but I can confirm that I have provided instructions to my legal team to prepare an appeal at the earliest opportunity” a statement from Ward read on the first of August.
Ward resigned from state parliament back in August and as a result, a by-election was triggered for the electorate.
Said by-election was held last Saturday, which was won by Labor’s Katelin Mcinerny – after Ward held the seat since 2011.
Ward was originally a Liberal MP, before turning into an independent after being charged.
