Fire and Rescue NSW is urging residents to check their home fire safety, off the back of two fatalities in less than a week.
The first fatal blaze broke out in Randwick on Tuesday 7 July 2026, a resident believed to have been in her late 70’s was retrieved from the unit but died at the scene.
While a Coniston woman also aged in her 70’s passed away in a blaze on Sunday 12 July 2026.

Fire and Rescue NSW is reminding people to test smoke alarms, use heaters safely, and take advantage of free home safety visits.
