Illawarra crime report card released

The latest crime statistics are out, and the Illawarra has a few areas of concern in the latest data.

Executive Director, of the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research, Jackie Fitzgerald, said that 13 offences are examined, with two of those offences increasing over the past five years.

Those offences are ‘non domestic assault’, and ‘sexual assault’, with the increase in sexual assault seen as quite alarminmg, said Ms Fitzgerald.

Also, and other two offences are markedly higther than the NSW average, with retail theft, and steal from motor vehicle, the remainder of the main offences are either on-par or lower in the Illawarra.
