Funding from the federal government has gone towards an Illawarra company, backing homegrown advanced battery manufacturing, and clean energy supply chains.
Sicona Battery Technologies in North Wollongong, will receive funding worth $45 million, the business set to expand production capacity for its silicon-based anodes by up to 300 times.
Reports are it’ll take the technology from pilot scale towards commercial production, delivering up to 36-skilled manufacturing jobs in the Illawarra region.
