Family and Police call for info on Wollongong stabbing

Family and Wollongong Police are appealing for information following a fatal stabbing in Wollongong, earlier this year.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Crown Street, Wollongong, following reports of a stabbing, about 3.20am on Sunday 17 August 2025.

A 28-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for stab wounds his chest and taken to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition, he was later transferred to St George Hospital for further treatment.

On Saturday 23 August, Police were notified the man had died in hospital, he has been since been identified as 28-year-old Brandon Yates.

Wollongong Police have released CCTV of a person they believe can assist with their inquiries, as they continue to investigate the incident.

The man was last seen wearing dark clothing and riding a bicycle north along Hector Street, Wollongong, around the time of the incident.
