A man in his 60s has died following a single vehicle crash that caused major delays on the M1 at Cataract this morning.
Emergency services were called to the northbound lanes of Mount Ousley Road, just south of Bellambi Creek, at about 9am after the driver’s car left the roadway and slammed into a tree.
Police officers commenced CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics continued treatment; however, the man could not be revived and died at the scene.
A crime scene was established and investigations are now underway, with a report to be prepared for the Coroner.
The crash triggered significant traffic delays, with both northbound lanes initially closed.
Both lanes have since reopened.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
