March 6, 2026 3:32 pm in by

A 23 year old man will remain behind bars after being charged with 26 property and traffic offences following a police investigation across the Lake Illawarra area.

Police say the man was arrested after a short foot pursuit in Berkeley yesterday afternoon, following inquiries into a series of alleged incidents over the past two weeks.

Investigators will allege the man stole three vehicles, which were then linked to a number of service station drive offs in Shellharbour, Barrack Heights and Lake Illawarra, an aggravated break and enter at a unit complex in Shell Cove, a car fire in Warilla, and a police pursuit that was terminated due to safety concerns.

The investigation began after reports of a vehicle theft in Shell Cove in late February, followed hours later by a car fire at Andrew Park in Warilla.

The man appeared in court today, where he was refused bail, and is due to reappear in Port Kembla Local Court later this month.

Police say investigations are ongoing.
