The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe heatwave warning for the Illawarra, for today Friday and Saturday.
The Bureau says severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, kids, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions, people who are unwell, and our pets and animals as well.
The warning is for maximum temps in the mid-thirties with overnight minimum temperatures in the low to mid-teens.

Despite the warning from the Bureau, the NSW RFS has the Illawarra on a High Fire Danger for today.
Heatwave conditions are expected to ease on Sunday as a cooler change extends across the state.
