The ribbon has been cut on the Dragons’ new Community and High Performance Centre.
The $65 million facility officially opened today at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in attendance.
“This is a region that has produced some of Australia’s finest footballers, and the centre will be a magnificent new home for it,” he said.
“It brings together the highest standards in elite sporting infrastructure, with the very best of community sport facilities.”
The centre features two full-sized NRL fields, a high performance gym, sports science facilities, and dedicated medical and treatment areas.
Member for Cunningham Alison Byrnes says it will create new opportunities for the next generation of athletes.
“It will be aspirational for our young players, from the juniors, to the women’s team,” she said.
The hub is expected to help draw another 6,000 women and girls into the sport over the next decade, with equal facilities for NRL and NRLW players under one roof.
