A draft Master Plan to transform the Warrawong Parklands into an outdoor destination have been released by the state Government today.

The plan looks to promote active living, nature, and the community – with new pedestrian and cycle paths, water sports hubs, environmental restoration and more.

Member for Wollongong Paul Scully said the Government wants the community to have their say.

“I kept my commitment to keep it in the public’s hands, and now we want to make sure the public can enjoy it to its fullest extent,” Mr Scully said.

“It’s got a lot and something for everyone… We want to make sure this works for everyone, and is one of the great places that visitors and locals can enjoy.”

Drop-in sessions are running on Saturday 27 September 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm, at Warrawong Plaza, Thursday 2 October 2025 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Stockland Shellharbour, and Saturday 4 October 2025 from 9 am to 1 pm at the Warrawong Markets on Northcliffe Drive.

With 32 hectares to play with, the current plan includes improved lake access with a boardwalk, a proposed Olympic-standard skatepark, upgraded sports fields, new inclusive playgrounds, and dedicated nature play areas, as well as sections dedicated to cultural events, outdoor performances, and lakeside dining.

“For too long this 32-hectare parkland has not had the interest or investment that it or the surrounding community deserved, and this is an opportunity to shape the future of this recreational space.

“This is not an overnight thing. This will progress over several years, but ultimately, this is a plan to make it one of the great public spaces that we can use and enjoy along the way while things are improved and evolve.”

The draft Master Plan is now on public exhibition until 15 October 2025, with the community invited to share their feedback to help shape the park’s future.
