The Bureau of Meteorology says 100 millimeters of rain could fall in the Illawarra this week.
The region has so far been spared heavy falls that have caused flooding in other parts of the state.
Up to 10mm is forecast locally today, with heavier falls expected Wednesday Thursday Friday, while there could be storms at the end of the week.
