British actresses and Fawlty Towers legend Prunella Scales has died at the age of 93. The actress had an incredible career that lasted over 67-years. Her career sadly came to a grinding halt after she was diagnosed with vascular dementia back in 2014.
A statement released to the news said:
“Our darling mother Prunella Scales died peacefully at home in London yesterday. She was 93. Although dementia forced her retirement from a remarkable acting career of nearly 70 years, she continued to live at home. She was watching Fawlty Towers the day before she died… We would like to thank all those who gave Pru such wonderful care at the end of her life: her last days were comfortable, contented and surrounded by love.”
Over her incredible 67-year career, Scales was best known for her role in the classic hit British sitcom Fawlty Towers as Sybil Fawlty. The sitcom ran for two seasons of six episodes from 1975 to 1979. Despite its relatively short life span it is still to this considered one of the best British sitcoms ever released. This year marks the 50th anniversary from when the sitcom first aired on screens.
