Communities across the Illawarra will come together on Saturday 25 April 2026 to mark ANZAC Day, with dawn services, marches, and local commemorations held from the coast to the suburbs.
Wollongong
Wollongong hosts the region’s largest commemorations. The dawn service at the cenotaph begins around 4.30 am, following early arrivals from 4.15 am, with a gunfire breakfast often held afterwards. By 8.30 am, crowds gather in the CBD for the ANZAC Day march, which typically steps off around 9.30 am. A mid-morning service follows, finishing before 11.30 am. Suburb services in areas like Corrimal, Figtree, and Fairy Meadow are held across the morning.

Shellharbour
Shellharbour’s dawn service begins around 4.30 am at the village cenotaph, followed by community breakfasts. Marches in Shellharbour, Warilla, and Oak Flats are generally held between 8.30 am and 9.30 am, with memorial services continuing through the late morning.
Kiama
Kiama’s dawn service begins around 4.30 am near the harbour, with smaller commemorations and wreath-laying ceremonies held from around 9.00 am.

Northern & Southern Suburbs
Thirroul, Austinmer, Helensburgh, Dapto, Unanderra, and Port Kembla all host dawn services around 4.30 am, followed by local gatherings and late-morning commemorations.
