Kiama Council wants state funding to ease the cost of the upcoming by-election, which is expected to leave ratepayers with a hefty bill.
Councillors have unanimously backed a push for NSW Government assistance, arguing the election was unavoidable after the state’s refusal to let council operate one councillor short.
They’re also seeking changes to the rules governing council vacancies.
