A high visibility police operation targeting dangerous driving across the Illawarra has seen a total of 17 charges laid.
Highway Patrol officers ran Operation Spoiler between 6am Friday 6 March and 2am Saturday 7 March, conducting 1,824 roadside tests across the Wollongong and Lake Illawarra Police Districts.
Of those tests, 12 people were caught drink driving, while 47 returned positive drug tests.
Nine vehicle and person searches were conducted, while officers clocked 32 license offences, and issued 247 traffic infringement notices, and eight defect notices.
One driver stopped at Windang on Friday evening allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police say the 49-year-old, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, was also driving an unregistered vehicle while his licence was suspended.
He is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.
Police have confirmed Operation Spoiler is continuing.
