Long term work has begun on a section of road in the escarpment, with the road closed to all traffic for months yet.
Transport for NSW advises that Harry Graham Drive will remain closed at Kembla Heights near O’Briens Management Trail, started Monday 19 January 2026, and running right through till Tuesday 30 June 2026 at this stage.
Wollongong City Council said that road stabilisation works will include sheet piling, a concrete capping beam, new road pavement, and installing a traffic barrier on the outside of the embankment.
