A man has died after a fatal crash south near Helensburgh overnight.
Just after 6pm Monday 20 July 2026, emergency services were called after reports that a motorist had been hit by a car after a crash in the southbound lanes of the M1 Motorway, Helensburgh.
Police told that a white Isuzu tabletop truck driven by a 40-year-old man and a red tipper truck driven by a 25-year-old man were involved in a minor collision.
As both men were exchanging particulars the older man was hit by a passing white Toyota Hiace van driven by a 28-year-old woman.
Following the impact between the Hiace van and the 40-year-old man, a grey Chery station wagon driven by a 30-year-old man and a blue Volkswagen sedan driven by a 43-year-old woman were involved in a secondary crash with the Hiace van.
The 40-year-old man died at the scene, there were no reports of any other person being injured.
