A 55 year old man has been charged after allegedly attempting to take a flip knife into Wollongong Local Court.
Court security raised the alarm just after 9am yesterday, Thursday 26 February, after the knife was detected inside the man’s backpack as it passed through a baggage scanner at the courthouse.
Police were called, but the man allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived.
He was later arrested at Wollongong Police Station about 7.40pm, where police again allegedly seized a flip knife from his bag.
The man has been charged with custody of knife in a public place and possessing a knife in a court, and was refused bail to appear in court today.
