It kicked off at midnight and will run until Monday 8 June 2026 – Operation King’s Birthday – with NSW Police reminding Illawarra drivers to stick to the rules.
Police will target speeding, alcohol and drug driving, distraction including mobile phone use, fatigue and restraint, and helmet offences – double demerits are in place.
There’ve been 156-lives lost on NSW roads this year, which is 11-more than the same time last year.

Meantime, ‘Operation Snow Safe’ begins today and runs until Monday 5 October 2026, coinciding with the opening of the official ski season on Saturday.
