There wasn’t a lot of law or order happening in courtrooms across the Illawarra today, thanks to a snap strike by correctional officers.
Prison guards walked off the job in response to the NSW Government’s plans to shutter two wings at Goulburn Correctional Centre, amid concerns the move could worsen overcrowding.
Bail applications, sentencings, and mentions were all impacted, with inmates unable to be brought in to appear physically or via video link.

The stop work action’s expected to wrap up before the courts resume tomorrow morning.
