As teachers and students begin returning for the 2026 school year, a reminder that ‘school speed zones’ across most of the Illawarra, are back in force today.
Traditionally the first few days of the term are school development days for teachers, but kids may also be returning, and that’ll continue to increase throughout the week.
Some schools return earlier than others, especially non-government schools, so to avoid any confusion for motorists and to keep the returning children safe, 40kmh school zone speed limits will be in place from today.
