Wollongong will host one of Australian boxing’s biggest events of the year this Easter Sunday, 5 April, with former world champion Tim Tszyu headlining a blockbuster fight card at the WEC.

Tszyu will take on undefeated Albanian contender Denis Nurja in the main event, opening his 2026 campaign in front of a passionate Wollongong crowd.

Looming over the match is speculation about a future mega fight against American superstar Errol Spence, should Tszyu win against Nurja.

Tszyu says his full focus is firmly on the challenge in front of him.

“I know what I’ve got in front of me – Errol Spence isn’t in my head right now – I’m solely focused on what I’ve got to do in this one,” Tszyu told Kayo Sports.

The stacked card also features Wollongong favourite Sam Goodman, with the Albion Park product fighting Rodrigo Ruiz in an IBF super bantamweight world title eliminator, as he continues his push back toward world championship contention on home soil.

Adding even more firepower is a heavyweight grudge match between former NRL enforcers Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Jarrod Wallace, renewing their rivalry under professional boxing rules.

Staged on Easter Sunday, the event shapes as one of the biggest fight nights of 2026, cementing Wollongong’s reputation as a major destination for elite combat sports.
