Another bird flu case for the Illawarra

Two cases of H5 bird flu have now been recorded in Wollongong.

Wollongong City Council said a second ‘greater crested tern’ was found on the jetty, near the Port Kembla Southern Breakwater, it comes after a positive case in the same species, found near Windang boat ramp last week.

Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown said if you see sick or dead birds or other animals, don’t touch them, avoid all contact, record what you see, and call the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline.
