As the warmer weather kicks off, so has the shark mitigation along Illawarra beaches, with drones in the air, drum lines set and the controversial shark nets back in the water.
51-nets in total are back in the water between Newcastle and Wollongong, in a move highly criticised by Humane World for Animals Australia.
The Humane World for Animals Australia, says 90% of animals caught in shark nets are not target shark species, and this includes Critically Endangered wildlife.
