Wollongong’s newest major sporting facility has officially opened, with the Regional Tennis Centre at Beaton Park now ready for play.
The centre features 15 new courts, expanding access for the local community and positioning Wollongong to host regional, national and international competitions.
Lord Mayor Tania Brown says the project marks a significant step forward for sport in the city, made possible through joint funding from the Federal Government, NSW Government and Tennis NSW.
Councillors, local MPs and Tennis NSW representatives were on site for the opening this morning, signalling the start of what council says is a new era for tennis in Wollongong.
