Two women escape Coniston house fire as crews battle blaze

A lucky escape for two women after their home in Coniston went up in flames.

Fire crews were called to the Robertson Street address around 10.30 this morning, battling the blaze for around half an hour.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it’s believed it may have been sparked by a heater.

It’s the third major house fire in the Wollongong area this month, following a unit fire in Fairy Meadow on June 15, and a house fire in Warilla on June 7.
