Tributes are flowing for a stalwart of the Kiama community, following his passing over the weekend aged 86.

Former councillor Warren Steel is being remembered for a lifetime of service, having served seven terms from 1983-87, and again from 1999 until his retirement in 2024 – including a stretch as Deputy Mayor from 2012-16.

Over the years, Mr Steel – also known as “Stainless” – served as the President of the Kiama Lions Club, the CEO of the Wollongong Chamber of Commerce, served on Destination Kiama’s tourism advisory commitee, was a member of the Australian Cartoonists’ Association, and founded Steel Family Real Estate.
