Two men have been arrested in the Illawarra as part of a nationwide one day blitz targeting the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang and its associates.

Yesterday’s co-ordinated operation run under Task Force Morpheus involved police and partner agencies across Australia and New Zealand, with NSW officers seizing drugs and weapons and carrying out compliance checks and cell searches.

In the Illawarra, a 26 year old man was arrested after police stopped a vehicle in Figtree, where officers allegedly located heroin, methylamphetamine and cannabis.

He has been charged with multiple offences and was refused bail, appearing in Wollongong Local Court today.

Later the same day, another 26 year old man was arrested at Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged over an alleged breach of an AVO.

He was also refused bail and appeared in court today.

Across NSW, police executed 12 firearm prohibition order checks, conducted five cell searches, and seized prohibited weapons, a replica firearm, and illicit drugs.

Police say the operation sends a clear message that organised crime groups and their associates remain firmly in the sights of law enforcement, with further charges expected.
