Comic Gong returns to Wollongong this weekend

Wollongong’s original pop culture festival celebrating a love of comics, graphic novels, gaming and cosplay returns this Saturday.

Comic and cosplay fans in the family will be treated with loads of activities and competitions throughout the day.

There’ll be plenty of opportunities for the little ones to meet their favourite characters and heaps of learning and exploring with pinball machines, face painting, Green Screen Photo stands, Lightsaber demonstrations, badge making, art classes.

Taking place over 4 different locations, all within walking distance; Wollongong Library, Town Hall, Arts Gallery and Arts Precinct. All locations are within walking distance of each other.

Heroes off the Page - Panel

With the death of industry giant Stan Lee, we’ve been thinking about our Comic Book heroes. Not the ones in tights! The ones behind the page.

Draw-Off! Queenie Chan vs. Marcelo Baez
(12.30pm) Education Centre

Come see artists Queenie Chan and Marcelo Baez do a live character drawing, followed by a battle of art and wits as they show who is faster with the pen! Who will you cheer for, whose side will you be on? Team Marcelo or Team Queenie?

Living the Fandom Life - Panel
(2.15pm) Education Centre

A son of Obiwan / A cosplayer / A medieval re-enactor / A LARP enthusiast and A wrestler give an insider’s look into what it takes to live the fandom life.

Quiet Space

It can be difficult to enjoy large events. Crowds and noise might be a problem for you. The Quiet Space is for anyone who needs a break when at Comic Gong. The Quiet Space will be open at Comic Gong from 10am-4pm.

The Quiet Space will have:

Chairs to sit

Maps of the event layout and accessible points of interest

Tepee with sensory toys

Magnifying glass

Ear defenders to borrow
