NSW pubs and clubs have recorded a massive drop in profits from pokies over the past six months, new figures released by Liquor and Gaming show.
Liquor and Gaming NSW published its latest gaming machine data report on Wednesday, covering December 2019 to May 2020 for clubs, and January to June 2020 for hotels.
It found gaming machine net profits decreased by 41 per cent for hotels and 40 per cent for clubs during that period, which takes in the 10-week closure of all gaming venues from March 23 to May 31.
Clubs still managed to make a $1.2 billion profit off the pokies during the reporting period, with hotels also raking in just under $830 million in profit.
