No misconduct in top cop ticket case

Queensland's anti-corruption body has found no evidence of misconduct in the withdrawal of a traffic ticket issued to the wife of the state's top cop.

Carol Stewart, wife of outgoing Commissioner Ian Stewart, was issued with a traffic infringement notice for failing to stop at a stop sign, but it was withdrawn after she appealed in writing to the officer in charge of the local police station.

The Crime and Misconduct Commission reviewed correspondence between Mrs Stewart and the QPS, and said she had reasonable grounds to question the notice, and a detailed knowledge of relevant laws consistent with her career as both a police officer and Department of Transport employee.
